The History of Holmewood Hall

Holmewood Hall dates back to the mid nineteenth century and was originally built as a grand private residence. Designed in a Tudor Gothic style, its striking red brick façade, ornate chimneys and decorative stonework were a symbol of status and craftsmanship during a period of significant architectural expression in England.

Over the decades the manor changed ownership several times, each adding their own influence to the building. Its interiors became known for their opulence, particularly the Gold Room which features intricate gold leaf, carved wood, tall windows and rich period detailing. This room remains one of the most distinctive ceremony spaces in Cambridgeshire.

Holmewood Hall also played a role in military and training operations during the twentieth century, with various parts of the estate used for administrative and strategic purposes. After the war years, it returned to private use before eventually being transformed into the exceptional wedding venue you see today.

The surrounding parkland, ornamental gardens and lakes have evolved alongside the manor. Early planting schemes, heritage trees and water features have all contributed to the atmosphere that modern couples now enjoy as part of their wedding photography.
