When a couple describes their day as “simple, romantic, and full of love, laughter and joy,” you know you’re about to experience something truly special.
Charlotte and Mark’s wedding at the elegant Foxtail Barns was exactly that – a heartfelt celebration wrapped in timeless style, shared with their closest friends, family, and three gorgeous spaniels who stole more than a few hearts throughout the day.
Foxtail Barns, nestled on the beautiful 70-acre Staffordshire estate of The Tawny, is a contemporary barn wedding venue that seamlessly blends rustic charm with botanical elegance. Built on the site of the original walled garden, it’s a venue rooted in heritage yet designed for the modern couple. With exposed beams, industrial-luxe finishes, and vast windows that flood the ceremony space with natural light, it offers the perfect setting for relaxed, stylish weddings. The ethos at Foxtail Barns is all about flexibility, creativity, and letting couples craft a day that feels entirely their own – values that align perfectly with my own approach to wedding photography.
Charlotte and Mark knew from the moment they stepped foot on site that it was the one. “Light, airy, all in one place, romantic, elegant and classy,” Charlotte said – the search ended the moment it began. This one venue ticked every box.
Even with the unpredictable British weather bringing plenty of rain, the joy and spirit of the day were unshakable. If anything, the downpour only added more character to an already unforgettable wedding. From beautiful bridal preparations in the light-filled dressing room to the emotional ceremony and laughter-filled reception, every moment was steeped in love – and perhaps a few puddles.
Their three spaniels played a big part in the day – bounding down the aisle, mingling with guests, and adding to the relaxed, heartfelt atmosphere. One of the many highlights? The utterly unique bathtub photobooth, which guests adored. Don’t miss the image of Charlotte embracing the moment, heels off, veil flowing, laughter echoing as she climbed in – a picture of pure joy and personality.
But the story of Charlotte and Mark began long before the venue was chosen or the dress was found. What started as an unexpected workplace connection – nudged into life by a mutual friend moonlighting as their “agony aunt” – blossomed into a partnership built on shared adventures, campervan trips, and a mountaintop proposal on snowy Mam Tor. That moment, with Charlotte tearfully nodding “yes” before she could even speak, says everything about their bond.
Their wedding theme echoed the way they live: simple, romantic, meaningful. From the soft, elegant details to the soulful sounds of Chris Stapleton’s Tennessee Whiskey for their first dance, every touch was personal. As Charlotte put it, “Less is more… and we wanted the theme to be as timeless as possible.”
And that’s exactly what we captured – timeless photographs that reflect not just how the day looked, but how it felt.
