Slapton Manor Wedding Photographer

Slapton Manor is a wonderfully individual countryside wedding venue near Towcester in Northamptonshire. Set around a working family farm, it combines centuries of history with open countryside, traditional farm buildings and the freedom to create a wedding that genuinely feels like your own.

At the centre of the farm is the historic Manor House, surrounded by the Olde Threshing Barn, Fold Yard, Humphrey's Hall, gardens, fields and a traditional marquee overlooking the Northamptonshire countryside. Nearby is the beautiful Church of St Botolph, a Grade I listed medieval village church famous for its surviving medieval wall paintings.

One of the things I particularly like about Slapton Manor is that it doesn't feel like a wedding production line. Only a limited number of weddings are hosted each year and couples are given time before the wedding to set everything up and put their own personality into the venue.

That suits my approach to wedding photography perfectly. I'm not there to spend the day hiding in a corner or repeatedly pulling you away from your guests. I become part of the celebration, capture what genuinely happens and give you a little direction when you need it. The result is authentic wedding photography full of personality, without hours of stiff posing.

A Wedding Day With Your Personality All Over It
One of the biggest attractions of Slapton Manor is the freedom it gives couples to create a celebration around their own ideas. Rather than feeling restricted by the format of a traditional hotel wedding, its spaces allow the day to develop naturally and give you the flexibility to add your own styling, details and personality. That individuality is something I love photographing. No two weddings should look identical, and Slapton gives me the opportunity to create a gallery that reflects not only the venue, but the people, atmosphere and little details that made your wedding completely your own.

Rustic Character Meets Beautiful Wedding Photography
From the stonework and traditional buildings to the surrounding countryside, Slapton Manor gives me a fantastic variety of photographic opportunities throughout a wedding day. There are beautiful backdrops for couple portraits, plenty of character for documentary photographs and wide open spaces where I can step back and incorporate the landscape into the image. As the light changes towards the evening, the countryside can create some particularly beautiful opportunities for photographs. The result is a gallery with variety, from intimate moments and spontaneous reactions to larger, more considered images with a distinctly editorial feel.

Space to Celebrate Your Way
Slapton Manor works particularly well for couples who want a wedding that flows naturally from one part of the day to another. The combination of indoor and outdoor spaces gives you flexibility in how you plan your celebration, while the countryside setting creates a sense of being somewhere away from everyday life. From the quieter moments at the beginning of the day through to a packed evening celebration, there is space for the atmosphere to change without losing the character of the venue. For photography, that means I can tell the complete story rather than simply creating a collection of photographs in the same surroundings.

Your Slapton Manor Wedding, Captured Your Way
Your photographs should bring back far more than how Slapton Manor looked on your wedding day. They should remind you of the people, the atmosphere, the unexpected moments and just how much fun you had celebrating together. My approach combines authentic wedding photography with beautifully considered portraits and a luxury finish, without turning your wedding into one long photoshoot. The History of Slapton Manor

Slapton Manor sits within a small Northamptonshire village surrounded by farmland and centuries of history. The venue describes its Manor House as dating back to the 12th century, with later farm buildings creating the wonderfully characterful collection of spaces that couples enjoy today.

The Smith family has been farming at Slapton Manor since 1924, with several generations continuing the farming tradition. That working-farm heritage is an important part of the venue's character. This isn't a modern wedding venue designed to look rustic. The barns, yards, fields and agricultural surroundings are genuinely part of the story of the place.

The Olde Threshing Barn dates from the 18th century and retains the kind of features that make old agricultural buildings so photogenic, including rustic stonework and substantial timber beams. Today it is one of Slapton Manor's licensed ceremony spaces.

Just a short distance from the Manor is the Church of St Botolph. Historic England lists the church at Grade I and dates substantial parts of the building to the 13th and 14th centuries. Particularly fascinating are its surviving medieval wall paintings and early 14th-century stained glass.

Today, the history of the farm has been combined with a very flexible approach to weddings. Couples can use the barns, Fold Yard, gardens, countryside and marquee to create a celebration that feels much more personal than a conventional hotel wedding.

For photography, this combination is brilliant. There are old stone walls, timber barns, open fields, farm buildings, countryside views and huge skies, but the real strength of Slapton Manor is the freedom it gives the wedding itself. When people are enjoying themselves rather than following a rigid schedule, genuine moments happen everywhere.
