The History of Whistle Barns
Whistle Barns takes its name from the local coal-mining heritage that once defined this part of Staffordshire. Originally built as part of a working colliery in the late 19th century, the barn complex has been lovingly restored by Cripps & Co. to create a contemporary venue that honours its industrial roots while offering modern luxury and comfort.
The red-brick walls and tall arched windows remain from the original industrial design, carefully preserved to maintain the authentic character of the building. Inside, the barn has been reimagined as a warm, open space perfect for celebrations — a mix of rustic beams, textured brickwork and understated lighting that brings both charm and atmosphere to every wedding.
As part of the Cripps & Co. family, Whistle Barns shares the group’s passion for good food, great service and relaxed yet polished experiences. Every detail, from the open kitchen to the flickering firelight and inviting courtyard, reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and hospitality. Today, it stands as a celebration of local history, transformed into a space where new stories are written every weekend.
