I’m Tom, a documentary wedding photographer based in Northamptonshire, capturing real moments, not awkwardly posed ones, for couples across the county and into Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire, and the Cotswolds. You know how wedding photographers are supposed to be invisible? Yeah, that’s not quite me.

I mean, I won’t be doing the cha cha slide at your reception. But I’m very much part of the day, cracking jokes during portraits so you’re laughing instead of grimacing, helping the morning run smoothly, chatting with your nan between shots, and making sure your guests actually enjoy the group photos instead of quietly dreading them.

The photos look effortless because the experience is effortless. Not because I stood at the back and hoped for the best.

If you’ve always hated being in front of a camera then brilliant. You’re genuinely my favourite kind of couple to work with.

I’ve had grooms tell me within seconds of meeting me that they despise cameras. Brides convinced they’re unphotogenic. I’ve never once proved them right. What I do is get stuck in, read the room, keep things moving, and before anyone’s really noticed the portraits are done and you’re back enjoying your day.

I’m experienced enough to know when to step back and let a moment breathe, and confident enough to round up 150 guests for a group shot without losing a single one to the bar.

Documentary photographer? Sure. But mostly I’m just a big part of the fun. I’m the person your guests will remember. Not just your photos.

Tom absolutely went above and beyond for us on our wedding day and afterwards, returning our photos blinding quick and in amazing quality. If your considering booking Tom as your wedding photographer, don’t hesitate. I don’t think we could have chose a better person for the job! We hadn’t had any professional photos taken before so didn’t really know how to act and what to expect but we felt so relaxed! We had a laugh, Tom gave us some suggestions of what to do and the photos came out amazing, guests hardly knew he was there snapping away and when they did he was making jokes and that made for some brilliant photos. Prices are competitive and the turn around was quick! Even for our post wedding shoot, obviously not as important as other wedding days but we still got them quicker than expected. 5 ⭐ highly recommend!

He is very professional throughout the process of booking and on the day itself. He asked all the right questions to ensure that he understood what we wanted from the day and how he could capture all the parts we were keen to focus on. He didn’t make us get loads of posed photos as that is not our style, and kept things as natural as possible. I feel his price was competitive compared to the different photographers/videographers we looked at, without compromising on quality. The turnaround was so quick too! Finding the right wedding photographer felt impossible until we found Tom. The moment we met him, he just "got" us and exactly what we wanted—natural, authentic photos. On the day, Tom was a machine. I'm so glad we chose Tom for our wedding photography! I whittled down some favourites on bridebook, Tom stood out as his images were so natural and not stuffy or staged. It then worked out that Tom was a recommended supplier for our venue! All the prep in the run up to the day was really easy with Tom. On the day Tom was incredible! Not only did he capture all the key moments in a really natural way but he directed us in how to get some lovely natural shots. He works regularly with our other suppliers and they had spoken before to make sure they were all agreed on timings. Tom was so supportive throughout the day. Now we have our photos and video footage back, I thought it was time for a proper review. When we began looking for a photographer for our wedding we spent a good time looking in to all different ones. We had started to give up by by chance we came across Tom's website and instantly fell in love with his style and we booked him straight away. From meeting him the morning of the wedding Tom felt like part of the party, at times we forgot he was even there he blended in that well. A laid back, natural approach was just what we needed as myself and Jack are not one for posing in front of a camera. He made us feel at ease and kept us in the loop of what he was doing throughout the day. Our day was very overcast and chilly, however Tom still produced some stunning photos and video footage that we are beyond happy with. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better way to remember the best day of our lives so far! The video footage has been a very big highlight to us and our friends and family with all of us sat in tears when watching the highlight video Tom had put together with two of our wedding day songs

From the very beginning he made us feel comfortable (I’m usually very awkward in front of a camera), we loved the fact that his photos were more ‘in the moment’ as opposed to more formal and staged, though these ones looked great too!

Tom is easy going which made us feel very relaxed, we had a great laugh taking our ‘something a bit different’ pics with my husband being thrown in the air by his groomsmen!

Honestly, most people hate having their photo taken.

Which makes hiring a wedding photographer feel slightly terrifying. You’re not sure if you’ll look natural. You don’t know what to do with your hands. And the thought of someone following you around all day with a camera is, frankly, a bit much.

That’s kind of my wheelhouse.

I’m not the photographer who lurks at the edges hoping something happens. I get involved cracking terrible jokes during portraits, chatting with your great-aunt Maureen, generally making myself useful. The result is photos that actually look like you, because you were actually enjoying yourself.

A few things worth knowing:

No awkward posing. I’ll direct you enough that you don’t look lost, and back off enough that you don’t look stiff.
No brochure-speak editing. Just clean, timeless images that still look good in twenty years.
Whatever the day throws at us — bad weather, low light, a venue with questionable taste in carpet — I’ve been there.
It’s your day, not a template. I work around how you want the day to feel, not the other way round.
